My friend Waffa called me very distressed about her grandmother’s doily that is a family heirloom. She had tried to remove some stains and the result was that 4 of the doily squares were damaged after being stuck on her washer’s agitator. After conferring with my sister, Karen, who is an expert at crocheted lace, the best option was to remove the 4 damaged squares and replace them by removing the bottom row of squares and substituting them for the damaged squares. The final outcome was that the doily was completely restored to the delight of my friend and her family.
